For competition shoots, yes — you’ll need a valid CPSA shotgun certificate. For Have-a-Go sessions, no — you’re covered under our club insurance and supervised by a qualified instructor at all times.
I've never shot before. Can I still come?
Absolutely. Our Have-a-Go sessions are designed for complete beginners. We provide all equipment and APSI qualified instruction. Most people are breaking clays within the first few minutes.
What's the minimum age?
For Have-a-Go sessions, the minimum age is 12 with parental supervision. For competition shoots, you must hold your own shotgun certificate (minimum age 15 for a certificate, though younger shooters can use a borrowed gun under supervision).
Competition Shoots
Do I need to pre-book for competition shoots?
No. Just turn up on the day, sign in, and shoot. Registration opens from 8:00am, first squad at 9:00am. Booking via Clay Ledger is available if you want to guarantee your spot on busier days.
What classifications do you run?
We run AA, A, B, and C classes at every competition shoot. Class prizes are awarded at each event. New shooters without a classification are welcome — you’ll be placed after your first few shoots.
Can I bring my own cartridges?
Yes. Fibre wad only on our ground. We also sell cartridges on site — see our prices page for details. No steel shot.
When are results published?
Same day. Results are announced at the ground and published on our results page via Clay Ledger. Members receive automatic email notifications.
Have a Go
What's included in the £65?
Everything. APSI qualified instruction, guns, cartridges, ear and eye protection, and a Full English breakfast. Just turn up — we handle the rest.
How many people can I bring?
Groups of 2 to 20 are welcome. Stag and hen dos, birthdays, corporate days — we cater for all group sizes. Larger groups should contact us to discuss.
How long does a session last?
Allow 2–3 hours including breakfast, safety briefing, and shooting. The exact length depends on group size.
Membership
Can I cancel my monthly membership?
Yes, after a minimum 3-month commitment. Cancel any time after that with 30 days notice.
How does the 10% discount work?
Automatically applied when you book through Clay Ledger using your member account. No codes needed. Applies to all event bookings, cartridges, and clays.
What's the guest pass on the annual plan?
One free Have-a-Go session for a friend or family member per year. Great for introducing someone to the sport.
Practical
What should I wear?
Dress for the weather — it’s Lancashire. Sturdy footwear is a must as the ground can be muddy. We recommend layers and a waterproof jacket.
Is there parking?
Yes, free on-site parking for all visitors.
Do you shoot in bad weather?
Yes. Events are very rarely cancelled. If conditions are genuinely unsafe we’ll notify via Clay Ledger and social media, but this is extremely rare.
